-FAQ’s
- What is SEER?
A. Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio – a measurement of your Heat Pump’s efficiency during the AC mode. The higher the number the better the efficiency (just like your car’s gas mileage) - What is AFUE?
A. Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency – a measurement of your gas heater’s efficiency. The higher the number the better the efficiency (just like your car’s gas mileage) - What is IAQ?
A. Indoor Air Quality. Products that promote overall better indoor quality, comfort, and health. - What’s the difference in FREON and PURON?
A. Freon has been deemed harmful to the Ozone layer, and banned by The Clean Air Act of 1990, ultimately eliminating it’s production over the next few years. This has caused the price of Freon to escalate, and will continue to do so. Puron is environmentally sound and won’t deplete the Ozone layer. Puron is the efficient and dependable refrigerant designed for the future. - How does a Heat Pump work?
A. Simply put, in the summer months a heat pump moves heat from the inside of your home to the outside. In winter months, it reverses the process, capturing heat from the outside air and moving it indoors. In extremely cold weather, a heat pump may have assistance from electric heat strips or a hybrid gas back-up. - What is a Service Agreement?
A. A Service Agreement provides you with a complete precision tune-up and professional cleaning twice a year (or as needed). It also provides discounts on repairs, guarantees 24/7 service with NO overtime charges. Some have described a Service Agreement for your system to be like having regular tune-ups and oil changes for your car – maintaining peak performance and extending the life of your equipment. - What is an HVAC Tune Up?
A. Tune-ups are a regular part of your Service Agreement with 3D Mechanical. A tune-up for your system includes Cleaning and Adjusting the following: Burner Assembly, Ignition Assembly, Heat Exanger/Elements, Air Filters, Blower Components, Evaporator Coil (if accessible), Condenser Coil, Condensate Drain. Also included are measuring the following: Correct Air Flow, Volts & Amps, Thermostat Calibration, Temperature Differential. - How do I know if my ductwork needs cleaning?
A. If you’ve used store-grade filters for the past 5 years, chances are you have huge amounts of build-up in your ductwork, including dust, dust-mites, debris, mold, fungi, and other pollutants. The best way to know for sure is to have a free inspection by a technician from 3D Mechanical. - Are all filters the same?
A. No! The average Heating & Air system is equipped with standard 1” thick filters. At best, these filters keep large particles from entering the system. They do not keep out microscopic particles that can cause health issues as well as reduce the efficiency ;and life of your system. We recommend you consider these two products: - Aprilaire® Whole Home Filter – Filters pollutants down to 1 micron in diameter (human hair is 100 microns)
- UV Germicidal Lamps (Eliminates viruses, bacteria, mold spores)
